Gluten Free Hacks
Creating hacks to eat safe and healthy helps alleviate anxiety, especially when you are newly diagnosed. Do the work once, read labels, research online and find a way that works in your life to easily and uniquely identify them.
Having specific spots to store snacks in that are gluten free is a huge help. Using a specific shelf or basket to separate them from other items is a great easy way to do this.
Pro tip - don’t store anything that has gluten crumbs above the gluten free goodness to avoid cross contamination risk.
If having a separate shelf or area is not possible, adding your own gluten free stickers is another way to easily identify the items you identified as “yours”. I created these labels that can be used for this, as well as for common items that may have cross contamination if a family member would use a utensil that had touched something gluten containing, like peanut butter for sandwiches, to make sure to keep one gluten free.
